The female elephant having gestation period is 22 months. This is the longest of any land animal. At the birth the calf's weight usually 260 lbs. The animals usually live for 50 to 70 years. The record was found that the oldest elephant lived was 82 years young. In 1956 in Angola the largest elephant was shot, the weight was 26,000 lbs. It was the largest elephant recorded.
